Infographics: Trade relations between Uzbekistan and the EAEU in January-June 2022

Get acquainted with the results of economic cooperation in 2022 and the prospects for development within the EAEU in the infographics prepared by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.

The foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union in January-June 2022 increased by 24% compared to the same period last year and amounted to $7 billion.

Of these, exports amounted to $2.4 billion, and imports$4.6 billion.

The share of the EAEU countries in the total foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan amounted to 28.5%, total exports – 24.2%, total imports – 31.5%.

The indicators of Uzbekistan's foreign trade in the EAEU countries for January-June 2022 amounted to:

Foreign trade turnover with Russia increased by 32.1% and amounted to $4065 million (58% of Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with the EAEU countries), of which:

  • exports – $1220 million
  • imports – $2845 million

Foreign trade turnover with Kazakhstan increased by 9.9% and amounted to $2109 million (30%), of which:

  • exports – $489 million
  • imports – $1264.5 million

Foreign trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan increased by 38.5% and amounted to $589 million (9%), of which:

  • exports – $483 million
  • imports – $106 million

Foreign trade turnover with Belarus increased by 3% and amounted to $205 million (3%), of which:

  • exports – $48 million
  • imports – $157 million

In December 2020, Uzbekistan received observer status with the Eurasian Economic Union. With this association, the closest trade and economic ties have been established and further integration with the EAEU will make it possible to strengthen them even more.

The trade turnover of the countries of the Eurasian Union with the Republic of Uzbekistan accounted for about $10 billion in 2020. The share of the EAEU countries accounts for 30-31% of the total merchandise exports of Uzbekistan.

In 2019, Uzbekistan exported a total of $9.42 billion worth of goods, of which $2.83 billion worth of goods were supplied to the EAEU.

According to the MIFT, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the EAEU countries has increased by 75% over four years.

Traditionally, Uzbekistan exports textiles, products of the metallurgical and chemical industries, as well as food, primarily fruits and vegetables. Building materials, chemical industries, as well as processed food products, including dairy and meat products, are supplied to the republic from the EAEU.

With further integration into the EAEU, Uzbekistan will receive more favorable conditions when entering foreign markets, in particular when trading with Vietnam, Iran, Serbia and Singapore.

A study to assess the impact of Uzbekistan's accession to the EAEU was presented at 14 universities in the country. The results of the study were published on the website of the journal "Economic Review", which contains infographics and analytical articles on this study.

In particular, CERR experts mentioned about how joining the EAEU will affect agriculture, the transport sector, the automotive industry, the textile and footwear industries.
