Uzbekistan’s Trade with Kyrgyzstan
Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan maintain a free trade regime. In addition, the two countries have concluded agreements on the mutual promotion and protection of investments and on the avoidance of double taxation.
CERR analysis shows that trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan has expanded significantly in recent years.
Between 2016 and 2025, bilateral trade increased sevenfold, reaching $1.2 billion in 2025.
Uzbekistan’s exports to Kyrgyzstan amounted to $771.1 million in 2025, while imports from Kyrgyzstan totaled $428.1 million.
Manufactured goods accounted for the largest share of Uzbekistan’s exports to Kyrgyzstan, at 32.2%. Other goods accounted for 12.2%, machinery and transport equipment for 11.1%, and services for 6.5%.
Imports from Kyrgyzstan were dominated by non-food raw materials, which accounted for 45.1%. Mineral fuels made up 26%, food products 13.8%, and services 1.8%.
Investment Cooperation
As of July 2026, 374 enterprises with Kyrgyz capital were operating in Uzbekistan.
The cumulative volume of foreign direct investment and loans attracted from Kyrgyzstan in 2016–2025 amounted to $347.2 million.
In 2025 alone, the volume of foreign direct investment and loans from Kyrgyzstan reached $196.6 million.
Thus, the free trade regime between the two countries, together with the agreements on the mutual protection of investments and the avoidance of double taxation, provides a solid foundation for the further expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
