Infographic: Socio-Economic Development of Andijan Region in 2017–2025

At present, large-scale measures and new reforms are being implemented across all regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including Andijan Region, to reduce poverty and unemployment, support entrepreneurship, and accelerate the development of “challenging” districts.

As a result of measures aimed at improving the socio-economic well-being of the population of Andijan Region in 2017–2025, the region’s gross regional product increased from 22.9 trillion sums to 107.7 trillion sums, representing real growth of 66%. Gross regional product per capita rose from 7.7 million sums to 30.9 million sums. Over the same period, the region’s population increased by 16.8% and reached 3.5 million people by the end of 2025.

As a result of the efficient use of the region’s industrial potential and the creation of new modern production capacities, industrial output increased from 13.3 trillion sums to 107.9 trillion sums — an 8.1-fold increase in current prices and a 2.4-fold increase in real terms. Consequently, the combined share of industry and construction in gross regional product rose from 23.5% to 35.2%. This, in turn, made a significant contribution to the diversification and development of the regional economy.

Through agricultural reforms and the creation of a favorable agribusiness environment, the output of agriculture, forestry and fisheries increased by 32.6%, rising from 15.9 trillion sums to 53.5 trillion sums. At the same time, the sector’s share in gross regional product declined from 40.7% to 29%.

The volume of market services increased 2.3 times in real terms and reached 54.0 trillion sums in 2025, while its share in gross regional product remained at 35.8%.

As a result of measures aimed at liberalizing foreign trade and supporting and stimulating the export activities of business entities, the region’s exports increased 3.4 times over the past nine years, reaching USD 1,369 million in 2025.

In 2017–2025, a total of 130.5 trillion sums in investment was utilized in the region’s economy.

In terms of infrastructure development, 64.7 km of gas pipeline networks and 3,574.3 km of water supply networks were commissioned in 2017–2025. In addition, 6,854 million kWh of electricity was generated and supplied to consumers.

The region accounts for 9.1% of the country’s population, while its territory represents only 1% of the total area of the republic. In this regard, measures are being taken to meet the growing needs of the population through the construction of multi-storey residential buildings. In 2017–2025, a total of 11,423 thousand square meters of housing was commissioned in the region. In the social sector, new capacity was created for 30.2 thousand places in preschool educational institutions and 104.8 thousand places in general education schools, as well as 4.7 thousand hospital beds.
