Primary Trends in Uzbekistan’s New Car Market

In January, sales of new passenger cars, both domestically produced and imported, increased by 7.2% compared to the same period last year, reaching 28.6 thousand units.

In the regional breakdown, the highest activity was recorded in Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Fergana and Surkhandarya regions.

At the same time, relative to last year, sales volumes of new passenger cars declined in Samarkand and Khorezm regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent.

Sales in the segment of newly produced Uzbek-made vehicles exceeded 24 thousand units, demonstrating growth of more than 11% compared to January of the previous year.

Meanwhile, sales of newly imported foreign-made vehicles amounted to around 4.4 thousand units, reflecting a 10% decline compared to January last year.

Electric Vehicles Became the Main Driver of Market Growth

In January, electric vehicle sales increased by 9%, reaching 6.1 thousand units.

The regional breakdown shows that the largest share of January sales fell on the city of Tashkent, where 3.7 thousand electric vehicles were sold, accounting for more than 62% of total volume.

This was followed by Samarkand (3.5 times), Namangan (2.4 times), Surkhandarya (5 times), and Khorezm (3 times) regions.

At the same time, the primary electric vehicle market expanded by a record 45.3%, totaling 4.7 thousand electric cars.
