Car Sales Accelerated in Uzbekistan – CERR

In March, total passenger car sales in the primary and secondary markets exceeded 78 thousand units, rising by 19% compared to the previous month. On an annual basis, sales volume increased by 20.6%.

Regional Breakdown

Across the regions, higher market activity was recorded in most parts of the country. A decline was observed in only three regions: Jizzakh, Andijan and Samarkand.

The strongest growth was recorded in Surkhandarya region, where sales increased by 51.4%, and Tashkent region with growth of 46%. Strong gains were also seen in Syrdarya and Navoi regions, where sales rose by 34.5% and 27.5%, respectively.

In Tashkent city, activity in the automotive market increased by 60.5% over the month.

Primary Car Market

In March, sales of new passenger cars totaled around 31 thousand units, up by more than 13% compared to the previous month. In annual terms, growth reached 37%.

In the segment of newly produced domestic passenger cars, sales reached 25 thousand units, increasing by 3.8% over the month and by 26.5% compared to the same period last year.

The segment of new foreign-made passenger cars showed accelerated growth. In March, sales nearly doubled compared to the previous month, reaching around 5.7 thousand units. In annual terms, activity more than doubled.

Secondary Car Market

In March, sales of used passenger cars totaled 47.5 thousand units, increasing by 23% compared to the previous month. On an annual basis, growth amounted to 12%.

Electric Vehicle Market

In March, sales of electric vehicles in the primary and secondary markets totaled 5.5 thousand units, up by 24% compared to the same period last year. Growth was recorded in 8 regions of the country, while a decline was observed in 4 regions.

The highest growth rates were recorded in Khorezm region, where sales increased fivefold, Navoi region by 3.6 times, Jizzakh region by 2.9 times, and Fergana region by 2.2 times.
