In January-December 2021, the region's foreign trade turnover totaled $532.2 million, a decrease of $284.5 million or 34.8% as a result of a sharp decline in imports.
The volume of exports accounted for 196.5 million dollars (+ 58.3%), the volume of imports were 335.7 million dollars (-51.5%).
Exports increased by $72.3 million, and imports declined by $356.9 million. During the reporting period, a negative external trade balance of $139.2 million was recorded.
In terms of foreign economic activity, Afghanistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkey registered positive foreign trade balances out of the 10 largest (88.9 per cent) partner countries. The external deficit with the remaining 6 countries remains negative.
The region has trade relations with 69 countries. Relatively significant share of foreign trade turnover belongs to the People's Republic of China (23.4%), Korea (17.5%), Turkey (15.3%), Russia (14.7%), Kazakhstan (6.0%), Lithuania (5.1%.) ), Italy (2.4%), Germany (1.6%), Afghanistan and the Republic of Tajikistan (1.5%).
In 2021, the region’s export geography expanded to 2 countries (Brazil and Portugal).
The highest share in the foreign trade turnover of the region is 25.6% in Jizzakh, the lowest share - 0.7% in Yangiabad district.
