Business activity index shows growth

The following changes were observed in the components of the BAI

The business activity index in July 2021 increased by 5.9% and amounted to1059 points, compared to the previous month. Changes in the following components:

• the number of transactions in bank accounts of business entities increased by 4.2%;
• the component of operating economic entities inceased by 0.9%;
• the intensity of purchasing raw materials at the commodity exchange increased by 6.0%;
• brand components increased by 63.1%.

In the regional context, the Fergana region showed the highest growth.

In August 2021, the Business Activity Index for 13 regions increased compared to the previous month (July 2021), except for the Tashkent region. Significant growth was observed in Fergana (55.5%), Samarkand (42.4%), Khorezm (38.1%), Namangan (38.0%) and Jizzakh (34.8%) regions (Fig. 2).

At the same time, there was a moderate decline compare to the previous month in the Tashkent region (-1.4%).

OPERATIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS

The number of interbank payment transactions in August 2021 amounted to 4,692.6 thousand and increased by 188.5 thousand transactions (4.2%) compared to July 2021.

The number of banking operations increased in 7 regions.

In August 2021, the number of banking transactions between legal entities increased in 7 regions compared to the previous month. In particular, the most significant growth was observed in the city of Tashkent (7.3%), Tashkent (6.0%) and Syrdarya (4.3%) regions.

ACTIVITY ON COMMODITY EXCHANGE

In August 2021, the exchange component of the BAI was 1.0599. This means an increase in the component level by 6.0% compared to the previous month, which is associated with an increase in the number of transactions by 12.7%.

At the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, the total turnover in August 2021 amounted to 5,731.1 billion soums, which is 18.1% more than in the previous month.

ACTIVITY OF BUSINESS ENTITIES

The component of operating economic entities in August 2021 amounted to 1.0085, which means an increase in the component by 0.9% compared to the level of the previous month. This indicator also has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 14.2%.

The number of operating economic entities in August 2021 increased by 7,510 units compared to July 2021 (566,642 units) and amounted to 574,152 units.

The number of large enterprises decreased by 9 units.

During the reporting period, the number of small businesses increased from 454,975 to 462,303 units (an increase of 7,328 units). The number of farms increased from 108 601 to 108 792 units (an increase of 191 units). The number of operating large enterprises amounted to 3,057 units, which is 9 units less than in July 2021.

BRAND REGISTRATION

In August 2021, the index of protected trademarks was 1.6312, which means a significant increase of 63.1% compared to the previous month. In August this year, legal entities registered 460 trademarks and trade names.
