The Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan has published an overview of the domestic foreign exchange market.
In the first half of 2021, the situation on the domestic foreign exchange market was formed due to the growth of supply and demand for foreign currency.
The review says that in the first half of the year, the total demand in the domestic foreign exchange market amounted to 11.3 billion soums, which is 1.7 and 1.4 times more than in the corresponding periods of 2019 and 2020, respectively.
The volume of foreign currency sales by banks and individuals amounted to 3.7 billion soums (2.4 billion soums last year).
The demand for foreign currency from legal entities in the first six months of 2021 increased by 43% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 9.3 billion soums.
