Uzbekistan and South Korea Launch Expert Platform on AI and Digital Transformation

On May 1, 2026, the international forum “The Use of AI and Digital Transformation for Education, Energy, and Inclusive Regional Development” will be held at IT Park Uzbekistan in Tashkent. The event will bring together experts, scholars, representatives of government agencies, and international organizations from Uzbekistan and the South Korea.

The forum is organized by the CERR in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank Institute, Seoul National University, and Tashkent University of Information Technologies.

The forum agenda includes discussions on the impact of artificial intelligence on the transformation of higher education and the development of effective implementation strategies, the role of digitalization in poverty reduction and regional development, as well as technological modernization of the energy sector based on the advanced experience of the Republic of Korea.

Special attention will be given to the Mahallabay system being implemented in Uzbekistan as a tool for targeted socio-economic development of local communities. This approach, based on local governance, digital solutions, and interagency coordination, has attracted interest from the international expert community as an effective model of inclusive regional development and targeted social policy.

Among the distinguished speakers will be Dr. Kilkon Ko, Vice President of Seoul National University and Director of the Institute for Global Development; Dr. Bambang Brodjonegoro, Dean and Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Development Bank Institute; Gi Hong Kwon, Professor at the Graduate School of Governance of Sungkyunkwan University; Jongguk Lee, Professor at the Center for International Cooperation of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences of Seoul National University; as well as representatives of the Korea Electric Power Corporation.

The Uzbek side will be represented by officials from government institutions, the expert community, профильные ministries, energy companies, IT Park Uzbekistan, and leading higher education institutions of the country.

The forum is expected to serve as a platform for launching joint initiatives and sharing best practices aimed at further strengthening the economic potential and innovative development of Uzbekistan.
