Uzbekistan’s Automotive Market Remains Stable – CERR Report

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) has published an analysis of the dynamics of Uzbekistan’s automotive market for the first half of 2025.

Passenger Vehicle Segment

According to updated data, in June, sales of passenger vehicles increased by more than 3% compared to May, reaching 80,000 units.

Despite the moderate rebound at the beginning of summer, total passenger vehicle sales in the first six months of the year amounted to approximately 446,000 units — 23% lower than in the same period of 2024.

The decline is primarily attributed to reduced activity in the secondary market, which structurally accounts for the largest share of total sales and has thus been the main factor behind the overall slowdown in market activity.

Primary Car Market

Sales in the primary passenger car market increased by more than 10% compared to the previous month, which is 2,600 vehicles more.

Sales of new domestically produced passenger cars reached 23,700 units, reflecting a 15.6% increase from the previous month.

Meanwhile, the segment of new imported passenger vehicles declined by 12.6%, with a total of around 4,000 units sold in June.

Relative Stability in the Secondary Market

In June, over 52,000 used passenger vehicles were sold, just 0.4% lower than in May. On a year-over-year basis, the secondary market showed growth of 1.3%.

Electric Vehicle Market

Sales of electric passenger vehicles in June reached 5,100 units, representing a 1.7% decline compared to May.

Despite this minor monthly decrease, the EV market remains on a stable upward trajectory year-on-year.

In the first half of 2025, a total of 28,800 electric vehicles were sold — 62.6% more than in the same period of the previous year.

The highest growth in EV sales was recorded in the Syrdarya, Khorezm, and Kashkadarya regions.
