Business Activity in Uzbekistan Continued to Grow in June

According to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), the Business Activity Index (BAI) reached 1,128 points in June 2026, increasing by 12.8% compared to the previous month. Compared to the same period last year, the index rose by 36%.

Key Components of the Business Activity Index

The following changes were recorded across the main BAI components in June 2026:

  • the component reflecting the number of transactions through business bank accounts increased by 18.7%;
  • the component measuring the intensity of raw material purchases on the commodity exchange increased by 13.5%;
  • the component reflecting the number of active business entities increased by 1.2%;
  • the trademark registration component increased by 18.5%.

In addition, growth in the Business Activity Index compared to the previous month was recorded in all regions of Uzbekistan.

The strongest growth was observed in Syrdarya Region (51.3%), Surkhandarya Region (49.1%), Namangan Region (47.1%), and Khorezm Region (45.0%).

Interbank Payment Transactions

During the reporting period, the number of interbank payment transactions reached 7.93 million, an increase of 1.25 million transactions (18.7%) compared to May 2026. Compared to the same period last year, the number of transactions increased by 25.7%.

Growth in interbank payment transactions was recorded across all regions.

The largest increases in banking transactions between legal entities were observed in Kashkadarya Region (25.9%), Jizzakh Region (24.7%), Fergana Region (23.7%), and Syrdarya Region (23.0%).

The increase was driven by a higher number of payment documents processed through the Central Bank's Interbank Electronic Payment System. Compared to May:

  • memorial orders increased by 24.2% (510.9 thousand);
  • payment orders increased by 14.5% (620.9 thousand);
  • payment claims increased by 25.6% (3.7 thousand);
  • collection orders increased by 40.4% (111.3 thousand).

Commodity Exchange Component

In June 2026, the commodity exchange component of the BAI reached 1.1350, up 13.5% from the previous month.

At the same time, the average volume of goods purchased per transaction decreased by 3.8%, while the number of concluded transactions increased by 31%.

The total trading volume of 34 major commodity groups on the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange reached UZS 9.5 trillion, representing a 27.7% increase compared to the previous month.

The main drivers of higher exchange activity included:

  • a 12-fold increase in compound feed trading;
  • a 4.2-fold increase in cotton linter trading;
  • a 2.5-fold increase in glass jar trading;
  • an average 2.1-fold increase in trading volumes of AI-91, AI-92, and AI-95 gasoline.

Active Business Entities

The component reflecting the number of active business entities reached 1.0120, increasing by 1.2% compared to the previous month.

During the reporting period:

  • the total number of active business entities increased by 10,471, reaching 530.3 thousand;
  • the number of large enterprises decreased by 46, to 4,649;
  • the number of small enterprises increased by 9.2 thousand, reaching 435.4 thousand;
  • the number of farms increased by 1,283, reaching 90.3 thousand.

Trademark Registration

In June 2026, the trademark registration component reached 1.1855, increasing by 18.5% compared to the previous month.

During the reporting period, legal entities registered 473 trademarks and trade names.
