One of the Republic of Korea’s leading newspapers, The Chosun Daily, has published an article by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev entitled “Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea: A Future-Oriented Partnership in an Era of Change.”
In the article, the Head of State outlined the development of bilateral relations and the prospects for advancing cooperation to a new technological level.
According to the figures cited in the article, bilateral trade has increased fivefold in recent years, while Korean investment in Uzbekistan’s economy has exceeded $8 billion. More than 700 joint ventures and projects involving Korean capital are currently being implemented in the country.
The total portfolio of projects implemented in cooperation with KOICA, the Export-Import Bank of Korea and EDCF exceeds $3.5 billion. Mirziyoyev also noted that the combined GDP of the Central Asian countries surpassed $500 billion in 2025.
The President identified artificial intelligence, semiconductors, robotics, electric mobility, biopharmaceuticals, smart agriculture and smart cities as promising areas of cooperation.
In his view, the two countries should move from individual joint projects toward the creation of integrated production systems, technology platforms and new markets.
Mirziyoyev also placed particular emphasis on the first Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit. Uzbekistan plans to put forward initiatives aimed at deepening political dialogue, expanding practical cooperation and creating new partnership mechanisms.
The President also stressed the importance of investing in education and human capital, expanding academic exchanges and developing joint scientific research.
