Since the beginning of the year, car sales in Uzbekistan have increased by 16% – CERR overview

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) analyzes the situation on the automobile market of Uzbekistan on a monthly basis.

In November, sales of motor vehicles showed a noticeable decrease of 19% to 147.5 thousand; the drop compared to last year was 7%.

The November decrease in activity is largely due to the cyclical nature of the car market. Despite the decline, the trend for sales growth remains unchanged. Since the beginning of the year, sales of motor vehicles have increased by 16.4%.

Passenger cars

Sales of passenger cars in November decreased by 22%, having been fixed at the figure of 131 thousand cars; in annual terms, sales fell by 12%.

During the month, the most noticeable decline was noted in Surkhandarya, Ferghana and Kashkadarya regions.

At the beginning of the year, the passenger car market shows growth, sales here increased by 10.4%.

The situation in the primary passenger car market

Sales of new passenger cars decreased by 21% in a month. At the same time, compared to last year, activity increased by 16%.

In the segment of new domestic passenger cars, the decrease was 20%. If 39 thousand cars were sold in October, then in November, almost 8 thousand less.

The market of foreign passenger cars

During the month, sales of new foreign-made passenger cars amounted to 4.4 thousand, with a decline of 25%. Over the year, sales of foreign cars increased by 32%.

The situation in the secondary market

The secondary car market also declined in November. Sales of used passenger cars amounted to 95 thousand cars, which is 23% less than last month. Sales of used cars decreased by 20% over the year.

Electric vehicles market

The negative dynamics of sales remains in the Uzbek market of electric vehicles. In this segment, sales have been declining for the third month in a row, the last month was marked by a decline of 30%.

In November, 1.9 thousand passenger electric cars were sold, which is 800 cars less than in October.

Compared to November last year, sales of electric vehicles increased 6.5 times. Since the beginning of the year, sales of electric cars in the republic have increased 3.4 times.

The primary market of electric vehicles has slightly "strengthened": the November decline was 28%, compared to 35% in October. In general, sales here have increased 10 times over the year.

The secondary market of electric vehicles showed a decrease of 36%, here sales of used cars decreased by 250 units. This segment has grown 3 times over the year.
