Trends in Uzbekistan’s Automotive Market: CERR Overview

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) has presented the results of its analysis of Uzbekistan’s automotive market for February of this year, highlighting key trends and changes in the sector.

Situation in the Primary Automobile Market

Under current conditions, an overall decline in passenger car sales is observed, mainly driven by a decrease in demand for foreign cars.

In February, passenger car sales dropped by 14.5% compared to the previous month, amounting to 67,200 vehicles.

While sales of new domestically produced cars remained virtually unchanged at 21,700 units, the sales of new foreign-made passenger cars fell more than twice within the month.

Secondary Passenger Car Market

The secondary car market also experienced a decline in activity. In February, sales amounted to 43,300 vehicles, reflecting a 16% drop compared to January of this year.

Dynamics in the Electric Vehicle Market

The segment of new electric passenger vehicles also saw a decline in activity. In February, sales reached 2,900 electric cars, which is 11% lower than the previous month. However, compared to the same period last year, sales more than doubled.
