Uzbekistan’s Automotive Market Shows Moderate Slowdown in August

According to the data, passenger car sales in August totaled 90,000 units, down 9.5% compared to July. The sharpest declines were observed in Tashkent region, as well as in Khorezm and Kashkadarya regions.

At the same time, sales growth was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Syrdarya, and Andijan regions.

Primary Market

The new passenger car segment showed a moderate slowdown in August, with sales falling by 2% to 37,600 units. Within this segment, domestically produced new passenger cars maintained a dominant position, reaching 32,600 units sold, a slight decline of 0.8% compared to the previous month.

Sales of newly imported cars amounted to 4,900 units, down 9.4% from July.

Secondary Market

The secondary market for passenger cars remained relatively stable, with August sales totaling 52,700 units, a decline of 14.3% compared to the previous month.

Electric Vehicles

In the secondary market, 2,700 electric vehicles were sold in August, a marginal increase of 0.6% compared to July. However, in annual terms, sales rose 4.6-fold.
