Business activity in the republic increased again in April – CERR

In April 2022, the Business Activity Index (BAI) calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms increased by 10.0% compared to March 2022. In particular, the number of interbank transactions (8.5%), transactions on the stock exchange (14.4%), as well as operating business entities increased by 5923 units.

In April 2022, the Business Activity Index (BAI), calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, amounted to 1100 points, and, compared with the previous month, increased by 10.0%. There is also a more than 35% increase in BAI compared to the same period last year.

The following changes were observed in the BAI components

The BAI in April 2022 increased by 10.0% compared to the previous month and amounted to 1100 points, which is explained by changes in the following components:

the number of transactions on bank accounts of business entities increased by 8.5%;
the component of operating economic entities increased by 2.0%;
the intensity of the purchase of raw materials on the commodity exchange increased by 17.7%;
the component of trademarks decreased by 17.9%.

In the regional context, the Syrdarya region showed the highest growth

In April 2022, the BAI for 13 regions increased compared to the previous month (March 2022). Significant growth was observed in Syrdarya (38.0%), Kashkadarya (23.1%), Jizzakh (13.7%) and Bukhara (12.3%) regions (Fig. 2).

At the same time, this index for the Navoi region decreased by 1.7% compared to last month.

TRANSACTIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS

The number of interbank payment transactions in April 2022 amounted to 5,437.0 thousand and increased by 427.2 thousand transactions (8.5%) compared to March 2022.

The number of banking operations in 12 regions has increased

In April 2022, the number of banking transactions between legal entities increased in 12 regions compared to the previous month. In particular, the most significant growth was observed in Kashkadarya (15.2%), Andijan (14.1%), Namangan (12.8%) and Syrdarya (10.9%) regions. At the same time, there was a decline in the Ferghana (3.7%) and Bukhara (3.4%) regions.

ACTIVITY ON THE COMMODITY EXCHANGE

In April 2022, the exchange component of the BAI was 1.1768. This means an increase in the level of the component by 17.7% compared to the previous month, which is due to both an increase in the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction (20.9%) and an increase in the number of transactions (14.4%).

At the Republican Commodity Exchange, the total turnover in April 2022 amounted to 7,162.8 billion sums, which is 4.0% more than in the previous month.

ACTIVITY OF ECONOMIC ENTITIES

The component of operating business entities in April 2022 amounted to 1.0197, which means that the component grew by 2.0% compared to the previous month. This indicator has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 10.9%.

The number of operating business entities in April 2022 increased by 5,923 units compared to March 2022 (586,816 units) and amounted to 592,739 units.

The number of large enterprises increased by 176 units

During the reporting period, the number of small enterprises increased from 475,465 to 481,138 units (an increase of 5,673 units). Also, the number of farms increased from 107,730 to 107,804 units (an increase of 74 units). The number of operating large enterprises amounted to 3,797 units, which is 176 units higher compared to March 2022.

BRAND REGISTRATION

In April 2022, the index of protected trademarks was 0.8212, which means a decline of 17.9% compared to the previous month. In April of this year, 271 trademarks and trade names were registered by legal entities.
