46th Annual Meeting of the IsDB to be held in Tashkent

From August 31 to September 4 this year, the beautiful capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, will host the 2021 Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group at the Tashkent International Congress Center.

The Annual Meeting will be attended by 57 Governors from IsDB member countries - members of governments and ministers responsible for finance, economics, planning and international cooperation, heads of central banks and other officials of member countries, as well as senior representatives of multilateral development banks (MDBs ), international development organizations, the business sector, civil society, academia, the media and other stakeholders. More than 2,000 participants are expected to attend.

This year's Annual Meeting is taking place against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, causing the global economic downturn. With this in mind, the event will mainly discuss measures to ensure the availability of vaccines against coronavirus, ways to solve the current economic problems caused by the pandemic and mechanisms to facilitate a comprehensive economic recovery both in member countries and at the global level.

The meetings will be held in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological measures.

A number of issues will be addressed during thematic workshops and events held in the framework of the Annual Meeting. Topics such as enhancing resilience in the face of COVID-19, restoring sustainable global value chains as a path to a global economic revival, inclusive youth development, job creation and a number of other interesting topics will be covered. Also, the Transformation Fund under the IDB will organize a presentation of "innovations of tomorrow" in various fields.

Annual meetings are also a platform for holding General Assemblies of other specialized organizations uniting countries that are members of the IsDB Group.
