The Center for Economic Research and Reforms assesses the activity level in the car market of Uzbekistan: a boom in sales was recorded

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) monitors changes in automobile sales on a regular basis.

The number of transactions of the car sales in the republic increased significantly in October 2021, going up by 32.6% in comparison with September of this year.

At the same time, in comparison with October 2020, the demand in the domestic car market showed an increase of 10%.

It should be noted that after the restrictions were lifted due to the coronavirus pandemic in mid-August last year, the demand for car rose by 54.3% in August compared to July. The deferred demand continued to be satisfied until the end of the year. Thus, the domestic car market returned to the pre-crisis levels in the autumn of 2020, a significant leap upward was observed in October of this year. So, as compared to October 2019, car sales increased significantly by 31.1%.

Unfortunately, the global microchip shortage caused by the coronavirus pandemic continues to hold back production in the auto industry. Under these conditions, the significant growth in the automobile market is mainly due to the increase in sales in the secondary market.

In October 50,1 thousand vehicles were sold, while in September this indicator was equal to 40,3 thousand units (an increase of 24,3%). Likewise, rapid revival in the car sales is being observed in the primary market. In October, 20.6 thousand new cars were sold, which is 58.5% more than in September.

Experts note that sales of the imported cars slightly decreased as compared to September (2343 units), but increased by 38.2% (1021 units) compared to August.

During this period, more imported cars were sold in the city of Tashkent (5209 units), Fergana (1610 units), Tashkent (834 units) and Samarkand (505 units) regions.
