China Shifts Its Export Structure Towards High-Tech Industrial Products (Reuters)
Over the past decade, China has significantly transformed its export structure, increasing shipments of automobiles, industrial equipment, chemical products, and components used in AI infrastructure. Meanwhile, exports of goods such as footwear, clothing, and furniture have either declined or remained largely unchanged.
Between 2015 and 2025, the value of China's automobile exports increased 20-fold, while exports of industrial robots rose by more than 300%. China also overtook Germany in machine tool exports.
Growth has also been recorded in high-tech industries. In the first half of 2026, China's semiconductor chip exports doubled, reaching $177.3 billion, while exports of computers and servers increased by 41.3%.
The shift in China's export structure is linked to long-standing government support for industry. According to the OECD, Chinese chemical companies received $75 billion in subsidies over 10 years.
Samsung Forecasts Shortages of Artificial Intelligence Chips (Samsung)
Samsung Electronics forecasts that demand for chips will significantly exceed supply in 2027, with tight market conditions expected to persist until 2028.
Against this backdrop, Samsung's operating profit increased nearly ninefold in the third quarter of 2026, reaching $80 billion. Profit from its semiconductor division rose 15-fold to $79.5 billion. Meanwhile, the company's entire supply of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips for 2027 has already been contracted.
To expand production capacity, Samsung plans to increase capital expenditure in its semiconductor division by 62% in 2026, with further investment growth expected in 2027.
Chinese AI Model Successfully Carries Out Complex Cyberattacks (Reuters)
The Chinese artificial intelligence model GLM-5.3, developed by Z.AI, successfully completed 3 out of 13 complex cyberattack scenarios during controlled tests conducted by the research company Irregular.
This was the best result among the open-weight AI models tested by Irregular, which users can independently download and run. During the tests, the system demonstrated the ability to access protected services and execute sequences of actions across computer networks.
However, the Chinese model still lags behind leading American AI models.
