China's Car Market Expected to Recover in 2027 (Reuters)

Passenger car sales in China's domestic market could decline by 22% in 2026, from 23.7 million to 18.5 million units. A moderate recovery is expected in 2027, with sales projected to increase by 2%.

According to Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, the recovery in demand will be supported by the easing of short-term negative factors, reduced pricing pressure and a broader range of vehicle models. At the same time, differences in the competitive positions of automakers are expected to widen further.

Tariff Volatility Forces Companies to Rethink Pricing Strategies (Reuters, Simon-Kucher)

According to a study by the Thomson Institute, more than 75% of trade professionals believe that changes in US tariff policy will have long-term implications.

Throughout 2025, US customs regulations changed approximately 50 times, while tariffs on certain Chinese goods reached as high as 145%.

Three possible responses have been identified for companies: 1) increasing selling prices; 2) temporarily absorbing additional costs through their own profit margins; and 3) adjusting products and supply chain structures.

Tariff restrictions also affect businesses that source components domestically. Amid trade policy uncertainty, companies need to review pricing decisions more frequently, taking into account costs, competition and consumer demand, rather than applying uniform price increases across their entire product range.

EQT, the largest natural gas producer in the United States, has announced the acquisition of gas producer Range Resources. The combined company's enterprise value, including debt, will exceed $50 billion.

The merger will create the largest vertically integrated natural gas producer in the United States, with daily production exceeding 9 billion cubic feet of natural gas equivalent.

The deal comes amid rising natural gas demand from data centres and the expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure. According to EQT, the merger is expected to generate $325 million in annual cost savings. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027.
