Which regions of Uzbekistan showed the greatest business activity in April 2023

Analysis of business activity is monthly calculated by CERR on the basis of operational data (monitoring in all regions of the republic, according to the data of the State Customs Committee, the State Tax Committee, the Central Bank and the UzEx).

The monitoring results showed that the volume of tax revenues of the republic in April this year increased by 9.0% compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, a significant increase in tax revenues was recorded in the Jizzakh (by 40.4%), Syrdarya (by 34.5%), Tashkent (by 28.5%), Samarkand (by 25.8%) and Navoi (by 24.6%) regions, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (by 15.6%) and Tashkent city (by 19.5%).

The increase in revenues is mainly due to an increase in the number of operating business entities by 20% compared to the same period last year. In terms of tax revenue sources, income tax increased by 29.9%, property tax - by 35.4% and land tax by 24.9%, maintaining growth until the end of the month.

Receipts on customs payments for the analyzed period increased by 21.4% compared to the same period in 2022. The largest increase in customs receipts was observed in Surkhandarya (by 59.7%), Jizzakh (by 34.7%), Samarkand (by 29.2%), Tashkent (by 25.2%) and Ferghana (by 16.7%) regions, and in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (by 29.5%) and Tashkent city (by 38.9%).

The increase in customs receipts was mainly due to an increase in imports by almost 19.7% compared to the same period last year by types of products, including metals and products made from them, transport equipment and its components, technical equipment, electrical equipment and its components, and food.

The volume of exports of goods from the beginning of this year decreased by 1.2% compared to the same period last year. Exports decreased in Ferghana (-26.2%), Jizzakh (-13.4%), Tashkent (-10.1%), Namangan (-7.6%), Samarkand (-7.2%), Surkhandarya (-3.0%), Bukhara (-1.7%) regions and in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (-23.8%).

The decline in exports is mainly due to a reduction in exports of yarn and textile products, fruit and vegetable products and foodstuffs, metals and products made from them, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan — a reduction in exports of plastics and products made from them, as well as yarn.

The largest export growth was recorded in Syrdarya (by 34.5%), Khorezm (by 29.2%), and Andijan (by 12.4%) regions.

The increase in exports is explained by the growing growth rates of exports of food products, industrial goods, chemicals and agri-food products.

The volume of loans issued by commercial banks from the beginning of this year increased by 17.3% compared to the same period last year.

A significant increase in the issuance of loans was noted in the Jizzakh (by 74.7%), Navoi (by 38.1%) Syrdarya (by 35.5%), Kashkadarya (by 29.6%), Khorezm (by 28.4%) regions, and in Tashkent city (by 21.8%).

The volume of transactions on the UzEx for the analyzed period increased by 12.1%. A significant increase in exchange activity is observed in Syrdarya (by 57.9%), Kashkadarya (by 49.7%), Samarkand (by 27.0%) and Andijan (by 21.7%) regions, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (by 33.0%) and Tashkent city (by 10.8%).

The growth in the volume of transactions in these regions is ensured by increasing the sale of goods such as cotton fiber, wheat flour, wheat, mineral fertilizers, technical seeds, automobile gasoline, diesel fuel, liquefied gas, construction and household materials, sugar, rolled ferrous and non-ferrous metals, polyethylene, etc.

During the analyzed period, 30,497 new economic entities were created, the largest number of which were registered in Samarkand (2,831), Ferghana (2,816), Kashkadarya (2,597), Tashkent (2,508), Bukhara (2,019) regions and in Tashkent city (5,750).
