On August 27-28 in Tashkent and August 29 in Samarkand will host the 9th Meeting of the Multidimensional Poverty Peer Network (MPPN), which unites 63 countries and more than 30 international organizations.
The Meeting will be attended by world leaders, politicians, economists, leading scientists and experts. The organizer is the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) with the support of UNDP and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).
The discussions will focus on the exchange of experiences and results to improve poverty reduction strategies at the global level.
The selection of Uzbekistan as the host country underscores the international community's recognition of the reforms being undertaken in the country and opens up new opportunities for knowledge sharing. Uzbekistan is demonstrating its commitment to poverty reduction by officially adopting the concept of multidimensional poverty as a means to accelerate progress in poverty eradication in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
For the first time in the country, a project to measure the Multidimensional Poverty Index was initiated, implemented jointly by CERR, UNDP, OPHI, UNICEF, and the UNICEF Innocenti Institute. The methodology for measuring multidimensional poverty is currently being integrated with the household budget survey questionnaire of the Statistics Agency to calculate multidimensional and monetary indicators.
Uzbekistan's initiatives reaffirm its commitment to international standards in the fight against poverty and sustainable development. Reducing multidimensional poverty requires concerted efforts and unity to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals!
