The Car Market in Uzbekistan: in the CERR overview

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) analyzes the situation on the car market of Uzbekistan on a monthly basis.

During the month, sales of all vehicles increased by 8% and amounted to 144.5 thousand units. At the same time, an increase of 14% was recorded by January last year.

The situation in the primary and secondary car markets

Since the beginning of the year, 128 thousand passenger cars have been sold in Uzbekistan, which is 6% more than a month earlier.

The highest sales growth rates were recorded in Navoi, Ferghana and Bukhara regions.

At the same time, the passenger car market grew by more than 8% year-on-year.

As for the situation in the primary car market, sales increased by 1.4% over the month. The primary car market grew by 22% over the year.

At the same time, the primary market of domestically produced cars grew by almost 1%, 28 thousand cars were sold during the month. In annual terms, this segment of the car market has grown by 20%.

The used car market in Uzbekistan continues growing

During the month, more than 96 thousand cars were sold on the secondary market, which is 7.6% more than a month earlier. At the same time, compared to January last year, the growth was 4.4%.

The segment of passenger cars

In January, sales of new foreign-made passenger cars increased by 5.7% and amounted to 3.47 thousand cars. Over the year, the foreign car market has grown by more than 37%.

The situation on the electric vehicle market

Interest in electric-powered cars in Uzbekistan has begun to decline. In January, sales of passenger electric vehicles amounted to 3.3 thousand cars, which is 7.8% less than a month earlier.

The largest decrease in sales was noted in the Samarkand, Khorezm and Navoi regions.

In annual terms, sales of electric vehicles increased by 7.7 times.
