Which regions of Uzbekistan showed the greatest business activity in June 2023

Analysis of business activity is monthly calculated by CERR on the basis of operational data (monitoring in all regions of the republic, according to the data of the State Customs Committee, the State Tax Committee, the Central Bank and the UzEx).

The monitoring results showed that the volume of tax revenues of the republic in June this year increased by 7.4% compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, a significant increase in tax revenues was recorded in Jizzakh (+37.7%), Syrdarya (+29.3%), Tashkent (+27.0%), Navoi (+21.3%), Samarkand (+18.5%) regions, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (+11.8%) and in Tashkent (+18.6%).

The increase in revenues is mainly due to an increase in the number of operating business entities by 35.6% compared to the same period last year. In terms of tax revenue sources, income tax increased by 27%, property tax by 30% and land tax by 20%, maintaining growth until the end of the month.

Receipts on customs payments for the analyzed period increased by 18.6% compared to the same period in 2022. The largest increase in customs receipts was observed in Surkhandarya (+57.5%), Jizzakh (+49.9%), Samarkand (+32.9%), Tashkent (+22.2%), Andijan (+20.2%) regions and in Tashkent (+29.0%).

The increase in customs revenues is mainly due to an increase in imports by almost 29.1% compared to the same period last year by types of products, including transport equipment and its components, technical equipment, metals and products made from them, food and electrical engineering and its components.

Export growth was observed in Khorezm, Syrdarya, Kashkadarya, Navoi, Andijan and Bukhara regions.
The increase in Uzbekistan's exports is explained by the growing growth rates of exports of industrial goods, food products, agro-food products and chemicals.

A decrease in exports was noted in the Fergana, Jizzakh, Tashkent, Surkhandarya, Samarkand and Namangan regions, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and in Tashkent.

The decline in the colume of exports in these regions is mainly due to a reduction in exports of yarn, fruits and vegetables, mineral fertilizers and textile products. At the same time, a decrease in metal exports was noted to a greater extent in the Tashkent region, plastics and yarn in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, natural gas and metals in the capital.

The volume of loans issued by commercial banks in the period from January 1 to June 30 this year increased by 14.8% compared to the same period last year.

A significant increase in the issuance of loans was noted in Syrdarya (+34.5%), Jizzakh (+26.9%), Khorezm (+18.3%), Navoi (+17.3%), Kashkadarya (+16.1%) regions, and in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (+20.0%) and in Tashkent (+23.7%).

The volume of transactions on the UzEx for the analyzed period increased by 3.0%. A significant increase in exchange activity is observed in Syrdarya, Samarkand, Andijan and Kashkadarya regions, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and in Tashkent city.

The growth in the volume of transactions in these regions is ensured by increasing the sale of goods such as wheat flour, wheat, diesel fuel, cotton fiber, mineral fertilizers, technical seeds, automobile gasoline, liquefied gas, construction and household materials, sugar, rolled ferrous and non-ferrous metals, polyethylene, etc.

During the analyzed period, 46,336 new economic entities were created, the largest number of which were registered in the Ferghana, Samarkand, Tashkent, Kashkadarya, Bukhara regions, and in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Tashkent city.
