On December 14, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a video conference to discuss the effectiveness of the measures being taken to develop the services sector and future priorities.
On May 11, 2021, a resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to accelerate the development of the service sector" was adopted. By 2023, it is planned to make the industry an important driver and double the volume of services.
Obid Khakimov, director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, gave an interview to the Tahlilnoma program (Uzbekistan 24 TV channel):
As claimed by Obid Khakimov :
"Each mahalla should have an average of 21 types of service points, and the creation of these points can create thousands of vacancies."
“There are dozens of museums with high potential in each of the major cities of the country, and their potential is not fully utilized. In order to develop such large museums and attract more tourists, the president proposed to attract experienced restorers from Italy, France and Turkey to renovate the museums. The renovation of museums in three large cities will attract more than 500,000 additional tourists”,- Obid Khakimov said.
“As income rises, the demand for large retail outlets grows. For this reason, 10 large shopping and entertainment centers with an area of more than 600 thousand square meters will be created in Samarkand and Namangan next year "
“For the convenience of tourists, duty-free shopping centers will be opened in Tashkent, Samarkand and Namangan cities. This will increase the confidence of foreign tourists in our products and increase the demand for them. In addition, 750,000 new jobs will be created as a result.
-Service is a sector that can create added value in the shortest possible time. Only by developing this strategic sector we can develop industry and agriculture at the same time.
-The head of state is introducing a system of khokim assistants; more than 600 projects have been formed to implement this system. Khokim assistants determine the types of services and needs of the local population. For example, a hairdresser, a plumber, and so on. Thanks to this system, the implementation of the above reforms will be extended to makhallas in the most remote areas, ”- Obid Khakimov emphasized.
