CERR analyzed Business Activity Index of April, 2021

Various changes were observed in the components of the BAI.

In April 2021, the Business Activity Index decreased by 1.3% and amounted to 987 units. Changes in the following components:

• the number of transactions in bank accounts of business entities increased by 0.2%;
• the component of operating business entities decreased by 3.3%;
• the intensity of purchases of raw materials at the commodity exchange decreased by 1.7%;
• brand component increased by 0.9%.

In the regional context, the Bukhara region shows the highest growth.

In April 2021, the Business Activity Index increased in 10 regions compared to March 2021. Significant growth was observed in Bukhara (40.2%), Syrdarya (36.4%), Jizzakh (23.9%) and Kashkadarya (15.3%) regions.

OPERATIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS

The number of interbank payment transactions in April 2021 amounted to 5,058.1 thousand and increased by 8.4 thousand transactions (0.2%) compared to March 2021.

The number of banking operations increased in 10 regions.

In April 2021 number of banking transactions among legal entities has increased in 10 regions compared to the previous month. In particular, the most significant growth was observed in Namangan (10.1%), Kashkadarya (7.1%), Jizzakh (5.0%) and Tashkent (5.0%) regions.

ACTIVITY ON COMMODITY EXCHANGE

In April 2021, the exchange component of BAI was 0.9826, which means a decrease in the component level by 1.7% compared to the previous month. The decrease in the component level is associated with decrease in the number of transactions by 8.1%.

According to the results of April 2021, the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange amounted total turnover to 5,568.8 billion sums, which is 2.3% more than in the previous month.

ACTIVITY OF ECONOMIC SUBJECTS

The component of operating economic entities in April 2021 amounted to 0.9670, which means a decline in the component by 3.3% compared to the level of the previous month. This decline is due to a decrease in the number of large enterprises, which account for 27% in this component. It is important to note that this indicator has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 14.6%.

The number of operating economic entities in April 2021 increased by 8,330 compared to March 2021 (538,537 entities) and amounted to 546,867 entities.

The number of large enterprises decreased by 649.

During the reporting period, the number of small businesses increased from 428,625 to 436,742 (an increase of 8,117 entities). The number of farms increased from 106,079 to 106,941 (an increase of 862 entities). The number of operating large enterprises amounted to 3,184, which is 649 entities less than March 2021.

BRAND REGISTRATION

In April 2021, the index of protected trademarks was 1,0092, which means an increase of 0.9% compared to the previous month. Legal entities registered 328 trademarks and trade names.
