Meeting of Leading Think Tanks of Uzbekistan and South Korea

On March 13, 2025, the Global Development Institute for Public Affairs (GDI) in South Korea hosted a meeting with representatives of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) on the topic: "Discussion of Cooperation Opportunities with CERR."

The Uzbek delegation included Fazliddin Nasriddinov, Head of the Sector for Studying the Consistency of Macroeconomic Policy Parameters and Forecasting, and Islombek Saparmatov, Leading Researcher, both representing CERR.

This meeting served as an important platform for establishing bilateral research collaboration between the two leading think tanks. CERR representatives delivered an in-depth presentation detailing the institute’s role as a leading analytical center that provides policy recommendations, its advanced research capabilities, and its significant contributions to Uzbekistan’s economic reforms.

The presentation highlighted CERR’s cutting-edge economic modeling tools, data analysis methodologies, and expertise in conducting large-scale regional research, covering 208 districts and cities across Uzbekistan.

Prominent faculty members of Seoul National University, including Prof. Kilkon Ko, Prof. Min Gyo Koo, Prof. So Hee Jeon, Prof. Yusun Kim, and Prof. Jonghyun Yoo, actively participated in the discussions. The dialogue identified key areas of mutual interest and potential cooperation between the two institutions. Discussions covered public administration reforms, digital economy initiatives, and economic development research, where both institutions could effectively apply their expertise and analytical capabilities.

The meeting laid a strong foundation for long-term institutional cooperation between CERR and GDI. Both parties expressed keen interest in developing knowledge exchange programs, joint research projects, and academic collaborations to advance policy development in both countries.

As a concrete outcome, representatives agreed to explore specific project opportunities and maintain regular communication to establish a structured and sustainable framework for institutional collaboration. This meeting marked an important step in strengthening research and analytical cooperation between the think tanks of South Korea and Uzbekistan.
