Business activity index, calculated by the Center for Economic Research and Reform in June, increased by 3.4%

The following changes were observed in the components of the BAI

The business activity index in June 2021 increased by 3.4% and amounted to 1,034 points, compared to the previous month. Changes in the following components:

• the number of transactions in bank accounts of business entities increased by 6.9%;
• the component of operating economic entities inceased by 0.9%;
• the intensity of purchasing raw materials at the commodity exchange increased by 2.2%;
• brand compoments decreased by 4.2%.

In the regional context, the Surkhandarya region showed the highest growth.

In June 2021, the Business Activity Index increased in 12 regions compared to the previous month (May 2021). In the city of Tashkent (42.7%), in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (39.1%), as well as in Surkhandarya (48.0%), Bukhara (28.6%), Kashkadarya (21.4%) regions, there was a significant increase (fig. 2).

At the same time, in Jizzakh (- 7.3%) and Tashkent (- 1.1%) regions there was a decline in relation to the previous month.

OPERATIONS WITH BANK ACCOUNTS

The number of interbank payment transactions in June 2021 amounted to 4,890.8 thousand and increased by 314.0 thousand transactions (6.9%) compared to May 2021.

The number of banking operations in all regions has increased.

In June 2021, the number of banking transactions between legal entities, compared to the previous month, increased in all regions. In particular, the most significant growth was observed in Fergana (9.6%), Syrdarya (7.4%), Namangan (7.0%), Tashkent (6.9%) regions and in the city of Tashkent (8.1%).

ACTIVITY ON COMMODITY EXCHANGE

In June 2021, the exchange component of the BAI was 1.0225. This means a 2.2% increase in the component level compared to the previous month, which is associated with a 7.3% increase in the number of transactions. At the same time, the average physical volume of goods purchased in each transaction decreased by 2.8%.

According to the results of June 2021, the Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange amounted total turnover to 5,854.9 billion soums, which is 7.9% more than in the previous month.

ACTIVITY OF BUSINESS ENTITIES

The component of operating economic entities in June 2021 amounted to 1.0085, which means an increase in the component by 0.9% compared to the previous month. This indicator also has a positive value in relation to the same period last year with an increase of 14.0%.

The number of operating economic entities in June 2021 increased by 7,210 units compare to May 2021 (554,150 units) and amounted to 561,360 units.

The number of large enterprises decreased by 9 units.

During the reporting period, the number of small businesses increased from 443,497 to 450,155 units (an increase of 6,658 units). The number of farms increased from 107,585 to 108,146 units (an increase of 561 units). The number of large enterprises amounted to 3,059 units, which is 9 units less than in May 2021.

BRAND REGISTRATION

In June 2021, the index of protected trademarks was 0.9585, which means a decline of 4.2% compared to the previous month. In June this year, legal entities registered 254 trademarks and trade names.
